I don't have a car, what are my transportation options?
All of Redding Revival Community’s apartments & houses are chosen to be conveniently located between Bethel and the Civic Auditorium and within easy walking and bike riding distance. As well, they are all less than a block from the local RABA bus stop.
The Simpson University dorms are within walking distance of Bethel and there is a RABA bus stop on campus.
Can I catch a bus around town?
The public transport system is limited in Redding, but all residential and dorm housing is close to a central bus route that will take you directly to Redding’s main shopping district where you will have easy access to multiple grocery stores, Target, Walmart, Shasta Mall, Best Buy, World Market, Trader Joe’s and many other stores. RABA has now also added an "express route" that take students directly to the Civic (where 1st Year meets) and has timed the route to work with students schedules. Yes internet service is provided and all the needed hardware (modem & wifi router) is included.
- Roommates in residential housing share cost of monthly service which is $20 each per month billed in one payment of $200 due by September 30th. Due to the shared cost of the internet between all roommates, it is not an option to opt out of using the service and all roommates are required to pay for this shared expense.
- Wifi internet access is included in the cost of room and board at the Simpson dorms.
How many people are in a shared room?
Shared rooms in residential or dorm housing have two people per room. So, for example, a 2 bedroom apartment or a 2 room dorm suite would have no more than a total of 4 students.
Do I pay for utilities, if so, what will this cost me?
All utilities (electric, gas, water, sewer, trash) are included in your rent for Pepper Tree, Canby, Park West and Woodcliff Estates. A utility credit is provided each month. Students are responsible for utilities exceeding that monthly credit.
For those living in 1 bedroom apartments and private homes, roommates will equally share the cost of utilities each month and this will be billed to your tenant portal to pay each month. The cost is usually $35-50 per person, per month, depending on how hot or cold you keep the temperature of your heating and air conditioning and how much laundry your household does each month.
Utility and gas service will be kept in Redding Revival's name (unless you request otherwise to setup your own service) in order that students don't have to pay multiple deposits to set up gas and electric service. We will provide you a copy of the bill each month so you can see your usage, and then you will pay your share of utilities each month with your rent payment.
Internet costs are not considered a utility and are not included as such. Internet charges will be billed separately (please see information above on specifics for internet).
All utilities are included in the cost of room and board at the Simpson dorms.
Can couples/families rent a room or apartment and what is the cost?
We do have some apartments and houses that can be configured and priced for couples or families. Please inquire directly for information about what options we still have available.
Is there a security deposit and how much is it?
Yes we do require a security deposit.
For residential housing the deposit is equal to one month's rent, based on which unit and room that you choose. So if your rent is $395, then your security deposit is also $395.
For dorm housing the deposit is a fixed $325
The exception to this is if you pay your full year housing agreement up front by your move-in day. If paid in full, the security deposit is waived.
I want to live with the Redding Revival Community, how do I confirm housing?
Step 1 - Go to the "Apply Now" tab at the top and fill out an application.
Step 2 - Pay your application fee.
Step 3 - Wait for a response from us. It can take up to 2 weeks for us to process your application and get back with you. We will send you a placement questionnaire that helps us pick just the right place for you.
Step 4 - Once you have been accepted we will send a "housing agreement" for you to sign. You will need to carefully read through the agreement, print it out, sign it and then email it back to us. You will typically have one week to make this decision and to make arrangements for your payment.
Step 5 - When you have sent your signed housing agreement in, then you will need to pay your first months rent and your deposit to hold and confirm your housing. Please note: until we have received this payment, you are not guaranteed to have housing with the Redding Revival Community, even if we have offered you a spot. You must confirm your acceptance of housing by putting in your payment and deposit.
How do I make my rent/deposit payment when I'm International?
We have found that the easiest, most secure and cost effective service to use is Transferwise.com. To use this service you will need to sign up for a free account. Once you have an account with them, we will send you a link to make your rent/deposit payment to our account.
If for some reason you are not able to use transferwise, we will work with you individually to come up with a solution that will work for your situation.
Can I do a shorter lease than 10 months?
We don't actually do a traditional lease for our housing. We do a housing agreement, that would be more typical to what you would find if you were living in a school dorm. Our approach to the housing agreement is that you are securing your housing for the school year at one flat fee. For most of the units that is $3250 - $3950 total cost. For those who are not able to pay the full balance up front, we give the option to pay this cost in monthly payments - typically 10 payments. So if your agreement is for $3250 - then your monthly payments would be $325. If you are wanting to make fewer payments - lets say you want 9 payments - then your monthly cost would be figured by dividing the total $3250 by 9 payments which would be $361 per month. So the answer is yes - you can make fewer payments, but the final amount paid will be the same.

If we are not able to offer you housing your application fee is refundable. Refunds are only issued to those applicants that we have not been able to make an offer to. If we offer you a contract, but you choose to not accept it, a refund of the application fee will not be given. A qualified applicant desiring a refund must submit a request by emailing us at email@example.com
Am I required to have a co-signer?
All students are required to have a co-signer unless you can provide either proof of sufficient savings to cover the cost of rent for the year or proof of continuing personal income equal to double projected month. Co-signers must also fill out an application before housing can be approved.
Right to Fair Housing Statement
Though Redding Revival Community is designed in function to meet the special housing needs of college students, we do not discriminate between race, color, national origin, religion, disability, sex and family status. All of our units are available equally to all such classes of people and we regularly make it possible for families and singles, all nationalities and religions to rent in our community.
Fair housing basically means that each individual in the U.S. has the right to choose housing that is free from unlawful discrimination. There are federal, state, and local fair housing laws that protect people from discrimination during various housing transactions, such as renting or buying a house, apartment, or condominium.
These fair housing laws prohibit discrimination against certain protected classes. The protected classes as defined by the federal Fair Housing Act are race, color, national origin, religion, disability, sex, and familial status. State and local fair housing laws can also offer more coverage, such as including age, marital status, and sexual orientation as protected classes. California, for example, includes the federal protected classes as well as gender identity, gender expression, marital status, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, source of income, and genetic information of a person.
While students are not a protected class in and of themselves, each student is still protected under fair housing laws. This provides students with the right to ask about, apply for, and obtain housing without being discriminated against on account of their race, national origin, color, religion, disability, sex, familial status, or any other protected class status given to them by state or local laws.
